A Material Test Certificate (MTC) is a document from the outrigger pads manufacturer confirming the material composition, batch, and tested mechanical properties of a specific production run — the most commonly requested document on Saudi industrial sites before an outrigger pad is approved for use.
Why sites ask for an MTC
Contractors and EPC firms request MTCs so their HSE and lifting teams can confirm the pad material actually matches its stated load rating, rather than relying on a datasheet alone. On multi-contractor sites, an MTC also gives a paper trail: if a pad is questioned during an audit or after an incident, the certificate ties that specific pad back to its batch and test results.
What a proper MTC should include
- Material type, grade, and batch/lot number
- Tested mechanical properties relevant to load-bearing performance
- Manufacturer or supplier name and test date
- A reference the pad can be matched against physically
Requesting an MTC before you order
If your site requires certified documentation, ask for the MTC before placing your order rather than after delivery — this confirms the supplier can actually produce test data for the batch you’re buying, not just a generic material datasheet. Keep a copy on file with your lifting plan so it’s available if a site auditor or client asks for it.
