HDPE Color and Grade Variants
Our HDPE sheets and rods stock covers natural (translucent white/off-white) HDPE for general fabrication, and black UV-stabilized HDPE for outdoor, marine, and prolonged sun-exposure applications where natural HDPE would otherwise degrade and become brittle over time. Marine-grade black HDPE is a common choice in Saudi Arabia and the GCC for dock fenders, boat parts, and outdoor tank linings thanks to its combined UV resistance, low moisture absorption, and resistance to marine growth. For higher-load, higher-wear applications such as conveyor liners, gears, or heavy sliding components, our UHMWPE Sheets & Rods grade offers substantially better abrasion resistance and impact strength than standard HDPE, at a higher cost — our team can help you decide which grade fits your load, wear, and budget requirements.
HDPE vs. UHMWPE: Choosing the Right Polyethylene Grade
HDPE and UHMWPE are both polyethylene, but they are not interchangeable. HDPE is easier to machine and lower cost, making it well suited to tanks, cutting boards, fabrication work, and general-purpose sheets and rods where extreme wear resistance is not the primary requirement. UHMWPE has a far higher molecular weight, giving it significantly greater abrasion resistance, impact strength, and a lower coefficient of friction — the reason it is the standard choice for conveyor liners, chute linings, and high-wear industrial components. If your application involves constant sliding contact, heavy abrasion, or repeated impact, UHMWPE is almost always the better long-term choice despite the higher upfront cost.
