Why Use Cork Gaskets?
- Seals at low bolt load: ideal for thin covers and sheet-metal flanges that would bend under high bolt force
- Compressible: takes up uneven or distorted surfaces
- Oil resistance: nitrile-cork grades resist transformer oil, lubricants and fuels
- Vibration damping: reduces noise and vibration on covers and housings
Applications
- Transformer tank and inspection cover gaskets
- Gearbox, oil pan and valve cover gaskets
- Pump and compressor covers
- Electrical enclosures and junction boxes
- Anti-vibration pads and machine mounts
Rubberised Cork vs Plain Cork
Rubberised cork combines cork’s compressibility with rubber’s resilience and recovery, so it lasts longer and resists crumbling. Plain cork is economical for light, static covers. For oil-filled transformers and gearboxes, nitrile-cork is the usual choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is rubberised cork sheet used for?
A. Gaskets for transformers, gearboxes, oil pans and covers that need a compressible seal at low bolt load.
Q2. Is cork sheet oil resistant?
A. Nitrile (NBR)-bonded cork resists transformer oil, lubricants and fuels. Plain cork is not recommended for oil.
Q3. What thickness of cork sheet is available?
A. Typically from about 1 mm to 12 mm. Contact us to confirm stock for your grade.
Q4. Can you cut cork gaskets to drawing?
A. Yes. Send a drawing or sample and we will quote cut gaskets.
