Food-Grade & FDA-Compliant Virgin PTFE
Virgin (unfilled) PTFE, like the natural PTFE Grey sheets and rods we stock, is one of the few engineering plastics that is inherently non-reactive and physiologically inert. Unfilled PTFE resin conforms to the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 for repeated food contact use, which is why it is widely specified for gaskets, seals, liners, and conveyor components in dairy, beverage, food processing, and pharmaceutical equipment across Saudi Arabia and the GCC. It will not impart taste or odor, resists CIP/SIP cleaning chemicals, and tolerates a continuous service range of roughly -200°C to +260°C without degrading. Note that FDA compliance applies to the base virgin PTFE resin itself — filled or reinforced PTFE grades (glass, carbon, bronze, or MoS2-filled) are not food-contact grade and should not be substituted where food-grade material is required.
Chemical and Temperature Resistance Overview
PTFE has one of the broadest chemical resistance profiles of any thermoplastic: it is essentially unaffected by strong acids, strong bases, oxidizers, and most solvents, with the practical exception of molten alkali metals and certain fluorinating agents. Combined with a near-zero coefficient of friction and excellent UV and weathering resistance, this makes virgin PTFE Grey sheets and rods a common choice for chemical-processing gaskets, valve seats, bearing pads, and insulating components in industrial and marine environments across the region.
