Belts for Abrasive and Impact Loads

In mines and quarries, rock and ore drop onto the belt at loading points and travel at high tonnage over long distances. Three things wear a belt out: abrasion of the top cover, impact damage where lumps land, and rips or tears from sharp pieces. Diode Trading EST supplies rubber conveyor belts for these conditions, including impact-resistant belts for primary crushers and high drop heights, and tear-resistant belts with high-tenacity fabrics for hard rock and scrap.

Good practice at the loading point matters as much as the belt. Impact beds or impact idlers, correctly set skirtboard rubber and a well-designed chute all reduce damage and extend belt life.

Choosing Cover Grade and Thickness

The top cover takes the wear, so it is usually thicker than the bottom cover. Choose an abrasion-resistant cover for sand, gravel and fine ore, and a thicker, impact-resistant cover where large lumps fall from height. We supply belts in widths from 350 mm to 2400 mm, with grades including D1NY, D1NX and D1NW, as well as N17 and M24 for general and heavy duty. Tell us the material, lump size and drop height and we will recommend the cover grade and thickness.

Fabric and Steel Cord Options

Fabric belts, such as EP (polyester and nylon) and NN (nylon and nylon), suit most mine and quarry conveyors and are easy to splice and repair on site. For long overland conveyors and very high tonnage, steel cord conveyor belts give high tensile strength with minimal stretch. For steep inclines out of pits and on mobile stackers, chevron belts stop material rolling back.

Mining Conveyor Belt FAQs

Which belt is best for a primary crusher?
An impact-resistant belt with a thick top cover, supported by impact beds or impact idlers at the loading point.

What widths do you supply?
We supply rubber conveyor belts from 350 mm to 2400 mm wide.

Do you supply belts for quarries and aggregate plants?
Yes. We supply abrasion-resistant belts for sand, gravel, crushed stone and aggregates.

When should I use a steel cord belt?
For long-distance, high-capacity conveyors where low stretch and high tensile strength are needed.
