Fire Resistant Belt for Coal Handling

Coal dust and friction at a seized idler can start a fire, and an ordinary rubber belt can carry that fire along the whole conveyor. Fire-resistant conveyor belts use compounds that limit heat and stop flame from spreading. They are used in coal handling at power plants and cement plants, in surface and underground mining, and at ports handling coal and ore. If your site requires a belt certified to a specific fire standard, tell us the standard and we will confirm which belt meets it.

Heat Resistant Conveyor Belt Supplier

Heat-resistant belts are built for hot material, not open flame. Their covers resist hardening, cracking and separation when carrying hot clinker, coke, sinter, foundry sand or glass cullet, with continuous operation up to 220°C. For cement plants see our cement plant and clinker conveyor belts.

Fire Resistant vs Heat Resistant: What Is the Difference?

  • Fire resistant: stops a flame spreading along the belt. Needed where there is a fire risk, such as coal, wood chips or underground conveyors.
  • Heat resistant: survives hot material on the belt without the cover breaking down. Needed for clinker, sinter, coke and other hot products.
  • Both: some conveyors carry hot material in a fire-risk area, for example hot coal or coke. In that case specify a belt that meets both requirements.

Choosing the wrong type is a common and expensive mistake: a fire-resistant belt can still crack under hot clinker, and a heat-resistant belt may not stop a coal fire spreading.

Fire Resistant Conveyor Belt FAQs

Is a heat resistant belt also fire resistant?
Not necessarily. Heat resistance is about hot material on the belt; fire resistance is about stopping flame spreading. Specify both if you need both.

Where are fire resistant belts required?
Typically in coal handling, power plants, underground mining and ports handling combustible bulk material.

What temperature can heat resistant belts carry?
Our heat-resistant belts are designed for continuous operation up to 220°C.

Can you match a specific fire standard?
Tell us the standard your site requires and we will confirm which belt meets it before you order.
